autoresponders -
sends an automated email response to incoming email sent to a specific address. One autoresponder per email address.

bookmark link -
a link to another place within your website

browser -
software programs that reads HTML files and displays web pages on computer monitors

data transfer per month -
— monthly traffic allowance is calculated based on the daily traffic allowance

— each time a web page, image, audio, video, and other elements of your web
site is accessed by your visitor, traffic is generated
— daily data transfer allowance is such that most of our users stay within the
limit

disk space -
used to store everything related to your website such as your regular HTML files, images, multimedia files, anonymous FTP files, POP mail messages, cgi-scripts and any other files that make up your website

domain name -
an easy to remember Internet address in plain alphabet which computers will translate into a numeric IP address

domain name registration -
The process of reserving your selected domain name with The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN)

domain name system (DNS) -
a system that maps uniquely hierarchical names to specific Internet addresses

e-commerce -
the term use for exchange of merchandise and services using the Internet

.gif -
the Graphics Interchange Format (GIF) is the file format commonly used to display indexed-color graphics and images in hypertext markup language (HTML) documents over the World Wide Web and other on-line services

graphic element -
a file that creates a visual image in a website

home page -
the common name for the first page that appears when your URL is typed into a browser, also known as the main page, default page or index page

hosting -
— the placement a website on a computer that is connected to the
Internet so that web surfers can access the site
— it is essentially like renting space on a computer that is connected to the
World Wide Web

HTML -
the programming language used for marking up text so that browsers know how to display that text

ICAAN -
Formed in October 1998, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers is a non-profit, private sector corporation with a volunteer board of directors. ICANN was formed with the chief responsibility for coordinating four key functions for the Internet: the management of the Domain Name system, the allocation of IP address space, the assignment of protocol parameters, and the management of the root server system

image map -
a single graphic image containing several programmed links to different places on the Internet

IP address -
a computer's unique numeric address on the Internet (IP stands for "Internet Protocol")

.jpg -
the Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) format is commonly used to display photographs and other continuous-tone images in hypertext markup language (HTML) documents over the World Wide Web and other on-line services

keyword -
a word that appears on a web page, or in META data, that is used by search engines to identify relevant URLs

link -
— a programmed portion of a web page, contained within either text or
graphics, that provides a connection to another place on the Internet
— clicking on the link area causes the browser to download and display the
section of the Internet web page that is programmed within the link

META tags -
provides non-viewable information about your web page to browsers and search engines
navigation -
— the mean by which website visitors move around a website
— examples are: scrolling down the page or clicking on buttons
navigation button -
an HTML derived or graphic image, containing a programmed link to another place on the Internet
POP3 email accounts -
your email mail boxes on our server that can be securely accessed to retrieve your mail, anywhere you have access to the Internet, using such programs as Eudora, Outlook Express and Netscape Mail

on-line form -
a form that is programmed into a web page and can be completed and submitted on-line by a site visitor

outside website -
any website other than your own

scan -
the process of converting physical images (photographs, text pages and line drawings) to an electronic file format using a scanning device

shopping cart -
— keeps track of what your customers have ordered on-line as they add and
remove items from their virtual "shopping cart"
— when the customer is ready to check out, the program tallies the order
for your customer to review
— if the customer decides to submit the order, the program will email
the order information to the email address of your choice as a "receipt"
for your customer

secure server (SSL) -
— a method of ensuring that information entered through your web
site is protected
— information submitted via a secure form is sent to the server in
an encrypted mode

search engine -
a website that provides an interactive means of retrieving web pages containing specific parameters from the World Wide Web

search engine submission -
the process of registering a web URL with a specific search engine

sub-category page -
any page on your website that is not the first page that appears when your URL is typed into a browser

sub-domain name -
— a non-registered website name under the www.JSwebsolutions.com
website domain name
— for example: www.JSwebsolutions.com/my_company


3-month sub-domain hosting -
— essentially it is "renting" space for three (3) months on our computer that
is connected to the World Wide Web using a non-registered website
name under the www.JSwebsolutions.com website domain name
— for example: www.JSwebsolutions.com/new_years_eve_party

URL -
an Internet or Intranet address, typically a text string, containing information about the protocol by which a file can be accessed
